Winter provisions are vital for those who are rough sleeping and need support during the coldest season of the year. We’ve compiled a list of local service providers in London for those needing a helping hand.

Homelessness shelters

The Passage

  • Provides accommodation for people who are sleeping rough, including those who have been sleeping on the streets long-term, as well as those who have recently been made homeless and have no connections to Westminster. They also provide other support services, including mental health, addiction, and other specialist needs. Their Resource Centre is also a hub for various community activities.

Crisis Skylight in Brent

  • They work with people in Brent to help them rebuild their lives and leave homelessness behind for good. They offer services like finding a home and settling in, finding work and applying for jobs, looking after your health and wellbeing.

    • Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm - Visiting hours are from 10am to 4pm, generally by appointment

London Crisis Centres

  • At the day centres you’ll find hot meals, companionship and support. The centres are safe, warm and lively places run by caring and friendly volunteers.

  • All centres are open from Sunday 24th December to Thursday 28th December, from 10am to 5pm.

Domestic Violence Shelters

AWRC

  • A pan-London organisation providing services to women affected by domestic abuse .

National Domestic Abuse Helpline

  • Offers online live chat via their website or a telephone number to call for free and in confidence, 24 hours a day - 0808 2000 247

  • They provide information on your rights and how to get to a refuge.

Soup Kitchens/Christmas Lunch or Dinner

Jacksons Lane

  • Supporting isolated older adults during the holidays with Christmas dinner and festive activities.

    Contact Information

    • Please contact christmas@jacksonslane.org.uk if you’d like to refer an adult in need on Christmas Day. You can also self refer.

The Alexandra  - Wimbledon

  • Pub owners Mick and Sarah will open their doors on Christmas Day to anyone in need of company and a hot meal, completely free of charge.

Laurens Larder

  • Laurence’s Larder is non-referral and open to everyone. Every week they offer a food parcel, clothes bank, sit-down hot meal, community activities, and access to support services.

    Food bags on 10:00am-12:00pm Wednesday

    Community art café – 10:30am – 4:00pm Monday

Food banks 

Brent Trussell Trust Foodbank 

  • They provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis.

  • They have 2 locations: 

    • Neasden Centre - St Mary's Church, Church End, Next to Church End roundabout, Neasden Lane, NW10 2TS (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:30pm to 3pm) 

    • Kingsbury Centre - Lindsay Park Baptist Church, The Mall, Kenton, HA3 9TG (Wednesdays, 1pm to 3pm) 

    • Please note Christmas opening hours:

      • Tues 17th Dec (Neasden Centre) 12.30pm - 3.00pm

      • Wed 18th Dec (Kingsbury Centre) 1.00pm - 3.00pm

      • Thursday 19th Dec (Neasden Centre) 12.30pm - 3.00pm

      • Monday 23rd Dec (Neasden Centre) 12.30pm - 3.00pm EXTRA SESSION

      • Closed from Tues 24th December until Weds 1st January. Reopening on Thurs 2nd of Jan

Sufra NW 

  • Based in Brent, and they provide food (perishable and non-perishable) and toiletries. They also offer delivery services to those who are vulnerable.

  • They have two hubs:

  • Offers showers to the hidden homeless every Saturday from 10am to 2pm.

Streetlink

  • Connects rough sleepers to their local services – can be used by rough sleepers or someone who wants to help someone rough sleeping

Shelter – London Hotline 

  • 0330 053 6091 for under 25 

  • 0344 515 1540 for 25 and over 

  • Both lines are open from Monday to Friday, from 9:30am to 5pm 

From Brent Council

  • Concerns about a person being harmed or at risk of abuse, call the Safeguarding Adults Team on 020 8937 4098. 

  • If you or someone you know is affected by domestic abuse, speak to Advance by calling 07398 454898 

  • If you or someone you know needs urgent help washing, feeding or dressing themselves but does not have any friends or family to support them, call 020 8937 6589

Emergency homelessness 

  • Please call 020 8937 1234 and select option 2. 

  • If you see someone sleeping rough throughout the holidays, report this on the Streetlink website or call 0300 500 0914

Please note that our office and telephone line will be closed from Friday 20th of December 2024 and will re-open at 9:30am on Monday 6th January 2025.
